Event to include free health screenings, food and ‘kid’s zone’

The public is invited to the grand opening of new 383,000-square-foot, seven-story Prebys Cardiovascular Institute, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday, March 1.

Scripps is celebrating its opening with public tours of what is being hailed as the West Coast’s most advanced center for cardiovascular care.

The institute is located at 9888 Genesee Ave. on the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla campus.

The event will also include food and drinks, a kid’s zone, free health screenings and a behind-the-scenes look at its new digital and wireless health technologies.

The institute is named after philanthropist Conrad Prebys, who donated an initial $45 million to build the center, which has 167 beds and six state-of-the-art operating rooms.
