Power restored in La Jolla Shores
Power was restored by midafternon Friday to the La Jolla Shores and the La Jolla “throat” intersection at La Jolla Parkway and Torrey Pines Road.
Throughout the morning and into the early afternoon police were directing traffic at the Throat, where traffic had backed up due to the signals being out.
SDG&E says more than 1800 customers were affected when by the outage, which occurred when an underground fuse cabinet was damaged.
SDG&E spokeswoman Sabra Moallem said the power outage affected a broad area from Ardath Road on the north to El Paseo Grande, west to the ocean and east to Torrey Pines Road.
Natalie Leung at Surf Diva at 2160 Avenida De La Playa said she was working in the office when she heard a nearby power line “sizzle” before power went out about 8:15 a.m. “That’s happened before,” she added.
Power was restored to Avenida De La Playa about 9:45 a.m., but it took until nearly 2 p.m. before the rest of the area had power again.
