Power outage affects Sorrento area customers

A suspected problem with overhead power lines blacked out about 565 homes and businesses in Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Sorrento Valley, Torrey Pines and University City on Tuesday.

The outage occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to a San Diego Gas & Electric spokesperson.

By late morning, power had been restored to all but 50 of the affected customers, and the remainder of the addresses were expected to be back on line by early afternoon, according to the utility official.
