Power out in parts of La Jolla

A late-morning power outage knocked out electrical service to about

3,000 addresses in and around La Jolla on Monday.

A malfunction with overhead transmission equipment apparently caused the blackout, which was reported just before 11 a.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric. The problem affected parts of La Jolla, Soledad Mountain, Sorrento Valley, Torrey Pines and University City.

By late afternoon, the utility had restored service to about 85 of the affected customers. The rest were expected to be online again by midnight, SDG&E reported.
