Power out again at ‘Throat’
For the second time in less than a week, the “Throat” intersection was without power this morning during the morning rush hour.
More than 1,700 customers in the La Jolla area were aaffected, according to San Diego Gas & Electric Co.
A total of 1,745 customers in La Jolla, La Jolla Shores and Soledad Mountain lost power at around 6:30 a.m., the utility reported. Power had been restored by about 8 a.m. The cause was under investigation.
The outage knocked out traffic lights, causing problems on eastbound and westbound La Jolla Parkway and northbound La Jolla Shores at Torrey Pines Road, according to San Diego police.
Motorists were advised to take other routes.
