Police investigating reported rape near UCSD

UC San Diego police released a sketch of a man who raped a woman at a campus apartment Friday afternoon.

The attack at the Mesa graduate student housing complex in the 9200 block of Regents Road occurred about 3:30 p.m., campus police said.

The woman told police her attacker got in through an unlocked front door, used duct tape to restrain her and threatened her with a knife before raping her, police said.

UCSD police Detective Melissa Collins would not confirm that the woman was a student.

The unshaven, 20-something suspect is white, about 5 feet 8 inches and 160 pounds, with brown hair; he was wearing a white Chargers T-shirt and jeans, the woman told police. He was carrying a backpack.

Anyone with more information was asked to call detectives at (858) 534-4359.
