Pink is the color of health at Raise a Racquet benefit for breast care

Tennis fans hobnobbed with some of the top female tennis players in the country at the recent Raise a Racquet benefit. The auction and dinner - held at the La Costa Resort in conjunction with the Acura Classic - was a fund-raiser for Scripps Polster Breast Care Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

Last year’s benefit raised more than $257,000. This year, the charity event topped that figure by about $50,000. Credit the committee, which included Ruth Jacobowitz, Mary-Kay Gilbert, and Judy Heath for the success of this year’s bash. Heath sold pink Teddy Bears at the dinner to help the group’s Fund a Mammogram Program.

La Jollans on hand included Carol O’Brien, Susan and Neil Mohr, Dr. John Trombold, Dr. Sabine Wallach, Dr. Mary Wilde and Melissa Porzak.
