Philanthropy Spotlight: San Diego Music Foundation
Established in 1991, the San Diego Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization that focuses its efforts on local musician assistance, music education, professional development, live performance and an annual awards show recognizing creative achievement in the San Diego music community.
The San Diego Music Foundation strives to meet the immediate needs of musicians in the San Diego region, providing regularly scheduled seminars, workshops, artist panels and professional mentoring sessions. SDMF focuses its efforts on three continuing, annual programs:
Taylor Guitars for Schools is a year-round effort to place guitars into San Diego elementary schools.
The San Diego Music Awards is an annual awards show that raises funds used to assist Handicapped Teen Centers, arts programs within the San Diego Unified School District and the placement of music equipment into San Diego County schools.
The North to North Park Music Conference is an annual three-day music event. All conference registrants learn about the music business during panel discussions, workshops and demo review sessions. The conference features speakers who have been involved in local, regional and national music.
