Peters issues state of the campaign speech at office opening

“We’re four months into this campaign and have made tremendous progress,” said Peters at the official opening Feb. 17 of his Kearny mesa campaign office for the 52nd Congressional District. “ I’ve been honored with endorsements from nearly every high-profile Democratic official in San Diego including Sen. Christine Kehoe, Assemblymembers Atkins, Block and Hueso, Councilmembers David Alvarez and Todd Gloria, former Congresswoman Lynn Schenk, former Sen. Dede Alpert, and former Assemblymembers Howard Wayne and Mary Salas. And I’ve been endorsed by organizations that are key to turning out voters, such as the California Teachers Association, the San Diego labor council, and Democrats for Equality, the largest and oldest Democratic Club in the region.

But my supporters are not just Democrats. I was the first Democrat elected to Council District 1 because of my ability to work across party lines and build coalitions. That’s why I’ve also earned the support of Republicans and business leaders including three former Chamber of Commerce presidents, Irwin Jacobs, and Malin Burnham. We also out-fundraised every candidate in the race in the last quarter. Last Friday, we celebrated our success with a Headquarters Grand Opening, and it was standing room only!
