Pedestrian killed in University City

A 66-year-old man struck by a vehicle Aug. 19 in University City has died from his injuries, police said today.

The man was struck after he stepped out into traffic on Governor Drive at Regents Road shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday, said San Diego police Sgt. Art Campa.

The man suffered major head trauma and died at Scripps La Jolla Hospital, Campa said.

The victim of this incident was originally reported by police as a 56-year-old man.
