Pancake breakfast gets good feedback

Good times were had by young and old at La Jolla Kiwanis Club’s 46th annual pancake breakfast Saturday at La Jolla Rec Center. An estimated 1,300 to 1,500 people turned out.

Children especially enjoyed themselves riding on ponies and sliding down a jumpee. Event chairman Brant Westfall said he was told by several people that it was ‘the best event we ever put on. We got a lot of great feedback.’

Oldies band The Sandbaggers was a big hit. Westfall thanked the rec center for helping the club host the event again this year. Local merchants also pitched in.

‘We had many more prizes than we’ve ever had in years before for the auction and raffle,’ Westfall said.
