Pacific Beach fire causes more than $400K in damage
A fire in a Pacific Beach apartment complex Saturday caused heavy damage, but no one was hurt, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said.
Firefighters saw flames and smoke coming from the third floor of the complex when they arrived around 4:30 a.m. at 2130 Grand Ave., the dispatcher said.
It took about 15 minutes to extinguish the flames, which caused damage estimated at $250,000 to the building and $150,000 to contents, she said.
The dispatcher said the cause was listed as equipment failure, possibly involving a heater.
The Red Cross was called out to assist with an undetermined number of people displaced by the fire, she said.
