Opinion: A vote for the cartoon
As one on the receiving end of the speed traps as well as the traffic court system, I can only enthusiastically agree that the Oct. 7 cartoon in the Light was right on. …
It is too bad the six defenders of Enron by the Bay’s finest have no clue to what they were on about. Speed traps and kangaroo courts do little to improve traffic flow or safety.
They do remove any respect the wrongly accused motorist has for the police or the courts. The location of these traps soon becomes known to the drivers in their commuting.
Try Wednesday at about 3 p.m. Chances are, they will have their BMWs hidden in the alley a couple of blocks north of Nautilus on La Jolla Boulevard. Other favorites are Scenic Drive north above Sugarman Drive and Torrey Pines Road below Pottery Canyon. Here they hide the bikes between the parallel-parked cars and stand between parked cars with the radar gun.
