The Swim Champions Fitter & Faster Tour, the largest swimming event production tour in America, will visit La Jolla on Aug. 29.

The tour, which benefits the USA Swimming Foundation’s water safety efforts, will feature Olympic gold medalists and other professional swimmers in a three-hour event designed to educate, entertain and inspire athletes of all ages.

The La Jolla event will take place at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex and feature Olympians Misty Hyman, Ben Wildman-Tobriner and Ous Mellouli, all adamant supporters of promoting health, fitness and water safety initiatives.

“The sport of swimming has been a major focus in my life and I am excited that our local athletes will be able to meet Olympians in such an energizing and motivational environment,” said Anne Cleveland, La Jolla’s English Channel swimming legend.

The events feature in-water sessions for registrants with the athletes, motivational speeches, question-and-answer time, photos and autographs. Registration is limited; coaches with swimmers signed up may attend and watch at no charge.

“Speaking on behalf of fellow coaches, we are extremely excited to have the opportunity for San Diego swimmers to interact with some of the world’s best athletes and hope this event will help inspire them to reach for their full potential in such a great sport,” said Worth Archambault of La Costa Canyon High School.
