Newcomers Club hosts holiday extravaganza

Share

The La Jolla Newcomers Club knows how to throw a party - especially when it’s a “Holiday Gala Celebration.” Recently, the group toasted the season with a dinner-dance at the Hilton Torrey Pines Hotel, and the members got into the spirit of the season by bringing toys for the Marines’ Toys for Tots program. Two local Marines attended the black-tie gala to accept the toy donations and thank the crowd.

The Marines found another way to add to the coffers of this worthy cause. They each volunteered to dance with the ladies who donated at least $5 toward their campaign. What a nice treat for the guests - and a bonanza for the military kids in need of Christmas toys!

Kudos to Lisa Marks for creating the striking centerpieces for the tables. Those fabulous holiday decorations were auctioned off during the evening.

Among the many well-dressed La Jollans attending the festive evening were Joan and Robert DeYoung, Margaret and Anthony Acampora, Jim and Beverly Adams, Adrienne and Richard Schere, Brigitte and Joseph Blood, Sybil and Barrie Grossman, Diane and Jim Cox, Ginny and Bob Black, Fran and Harry Zimmerman, Michel and Patricia Dabbar, Peter and Dale Kneale, Pat Tisdale and Bob Schroeder and Paula and Ray Uhlir.
