New mile-run coming to Village

A mile-long race called the Coastwise Mile is planned for Oct. 4 through the Village along Prospect Street to Coast Boulevard.

Sponsored by the Coastwise Capital Group LLC and Generic Events, the event is certified by USA Track and Field. It will finish at Scripps Park.

A portion of the event proceeds will directly benefit the Scripps Park Project and the San Diego Humane Society & SPCA.

Divisions include youth, masters (40+), baby jogger, walking and a Mutt Mile, sponsored by Petco, for people to run/walk with their canine companion.

There’s also a pet costume contest planned along with a three-person Corporate Relay for companies, running clubs and high schools throughout the area. Each team member will complete one loop on the one-mile course with the best cumulative time winning.
