New harbor chief set to be sworn in today

A veteran lawman is set to be sworn in Friday as the new chief of the San Diego Harbor Police Department.

Port of San Diego officials conducted a nationwide search and chose John Bolduc to replace Kirk Sanfilippo, who is retiring. Bolduc comes to San Diego from Minnesota, where he has spent the past nine years as chief of the Brainerd Police Department.

Bolduc has more than 23 years of law enforcement experience, with expertise in tactical teams and leadership development, Port officials said.

In San Diego, Bolduc will be supervising 141 sworn officers and 25 civilians.
