New football conferences for local teams announced

Starting next season, La Jolla Country Day and The Bishop’s School will play football in the same conference.The CIFSD Board of Managers approved the motion Tuesday for the proposal for re-leaguing.
The two leagues that make up the Coastal Conference will have a new. The Coastal League will include Bishop’s, La Jolla Country Day, Christian, Francis Parker, Horizon Christian and Santa Fe Christian. The Pacific League will include Calvin Christian, San Diego Jewish Academy, Army-Navy Academy, Tri-City Christian, The Rock Academy and Escondido Charter.
Currently, La Jolla Country Day plays in the Pacific League with Army-Navy, Calipatria, Escondido Charter, Holtville, Mtn. Empire. Tri-City Christian and Vincent Memorial.
The eastern teams in the current Pacific League will form a new league called the Manzanita League, which will include Calipatria, Holtville, Mtn. Empire, Vincent Memorial and Foothills Christian.
As for Bishop’s, it currently plays football in the Coastal League along with Christian, Francis Parker and Horizon. The Coastal League is considered by many to be the toughest of the Division V conference and has produced the CIF champion in that division several times.
