New exhibit sizzles

A solo exhibition and cocktail reception with artist Fabian Perez was held last weekend at Monarch Gallery, 1205 Prospect in La Jolla. Perez, of Argentina, is the official artist of the Winter Olympics.

In press materials, Perez says his work is inspired by the life of his father and “a time when a man would take pride in shaving, or simply fixing his tie, when women would follow a routine of slow sensual movements which could seduce a man just by lighting a cigarette.”

Fans have said Perez’s bold, symbolic imagery feels intensely passionate, and that he paints his emotions and memories from a different place in time.”
