Muirlands field dedication features annual alumni game
La Jolla High School’s varsity baseball team and an alumni team showed off their talents Saturday at the 17th annual Alumni Game. But for the first time it was played on the new athletic field at Muirlands Middle School. The Turf It Committee, headed by Howard Frank, spearheaded a project that cost more than $1.3 million to complete. The complex includes a synthetic field, a new running surface and fitness unit. Funding came from individuals and families, businesses and $500,000 in matching funds from the school district. The field will continue to be the home of the Vikings baseball team and will be used by the high school field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse teams as well as club teams from Muirlands.
