The Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park will hold “Spring Camp: Five Days of Fun and Knowledge” for children ages 8 to 10 in April. Each day features a different photographic activity and outdoor adventure with digital cameras, video cameras and alternative photographic processes.
For members, the five-day camp costs $35 per day or $160 for all five days. For nonmembers, it costs $40 per day or $185 for all five days. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.

April 6: DVD Slideshow Mania
Students will create their own DVD slideshow using photographs taken throughout Balboa Park. Using iDVD, students will control their slideshow choosing the images, music and theme. Each student will leave camp with a DVD of their own photographs and a personalized DVD cover.
April 7: Photo Science Lab
Experiment with motion, study plant life and take a closer look at the wonders of the world - all through the lens of a camera. Each camper will leave with examples of their day’s observations and studies.
April 8: MoPA Geographic: Photo Safari
(Includes free admission to the San Diego Zoo)
Students will use digital cameras to photographically capture the animals and exhibits. The afternoon will be spent in one of MoPA’s classrooms, editing and printing the pictures.
April 9: Out of This World Photography
Students will explore their surroundings with digital cameras while learning to use Photoshop and traditional photo-collage techniques.
April 10: Make a Music Video ... in SIX hours
Campers will plan and shoot a music video in one day. This camp will begin by planning and storyboarding the concept of a video. Campers will then use the variety of resources at Balboa Park as a backdrop to shoot the video.
MoPA will provide all necessary equipment.
