The City of San Diego is accepting public comments for a mixed-use project proposed for Bird Rock, at 5702 La Jolla Blvd. The space is currently a vacant lot.
The Initial Study conducted by the city found the project would not have a significant effect on the environment. Therefore, the city does not need to compose an Environmental Impact Report, and the proposal can be adopted as is, depending on the comments received.
The plan is to construct ten residential units for rent and 7,655 square feet of commercial uses with a two-story structure located on a vacant 0.37-acre site. The commercial uses would be located on the ground floor and the residential units would be located on the second floor. The second story units would include one studio, three one-bedroom units and six two-bedroom units and the ground floor would include two separate retail usage areas. The ground floor would also provide restrooms located and storage areas for the retail uses. The total gross floor area for the project would be 18,414.
