MIT Forum ready for summer wine event

The MIT Enterprise Forum San Diego chapter will hold its seventh annual summer wine event from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 4 at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, featuring wines from 24 boutique wineries and wine distributors, and beer from two San Diego companies.

Karen Winston, MIT Enterprise Forum San Diego executive director, said the event is widely recognized as the premier networking event for San Diego’s technology and biotechnology community.

The event is open to the public. General admission is $85. A portion of the net event proceeds will go to the local MIT Club to benefit the MIT Science & Engineering Program for Teachers, which underwrites the travel for several San Diego K-12 teachers to attend a summer training program at MIT in Cambridge, Mass.

For the first time, the social has an upgrade option for $40. This includes a private tasting from 6 to 6:45 p.m. with Eddie Osterland, America’s first master sommelier, and an after-party from 9 to 10 p.m. with dessert wines and ports from Ferrara Winery, plus coffee and dessert.
