Memorial Service for Nancy Cavicke

Native La Jollan Nancy Cavicke, a nationally known advocate for better quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities, died in her home of breast cancer on January 20 in Fairfax, Virginia. She was 50.

Cavicke graduated from the University of Santa Clara with a undergraduate degree in psychology and minor in gerontology. Upon completing her studies, Cavicke moved to Northern Virginia in the early 80’s and dedicated her professional life to caring for others in need.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate Cavicke’s life will be held Monday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. at All Hallows Parish Church located at 6602 La Jolla Scenic Dr. South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform through their Web site, www.nccnhr.org.
