Man suffers broken bones when roommate accidentally runs him over

A 23-year-old man suffered several broken bones Wednesday when he passed out drunk in his driveway overnight and was accidentally run over by his roommate’s pickup truck in Mira Mesa, police said.

The roommate was pulling his Toyota Tacoma out of his driveway on Berwyn Road about 5:55 a.m. when he heard a bump, said SDPD Sgt. Ray Battrick.

He got out and realized his roommate was passed out drunk and had been lying in the Tacoma’s path, Battrick said.

The injured man was taken to a hospital with two broken ribs and a broken collar bone, the sergeant said, adding that the man would survive.

The roommate would not be cited, Battrick said.
