LPGA players team up La Jolla in Samsung Pro-Am
The 20 competitors set to tee off Thursday morning in the LPGA Samsung World Championship took to the Torrey Pines course Wednesday with their Pro-Am partners.
The best female golfers in the world - including the last four LPGA major winners, the top name on the money list and last year’s Samsung World Championship winner - will be featured on the local course over the next four days. They’re going after the largest purse in event history, $1 million.
Kristy McPherson of Conway, S.C., and Na Yeon Choi of South Korea will be the first of the 10 groups to hit the course Thursday morning, going off the South Course’s first tee at 11:30 a.m.. Paula Creamer of Pleasanton, who had won eight previous Samsung titles, and Mexico’s Lorena Ochoa are the final pairing at 1 p.m.
