Local teams bring the heat to Santee

The Coastal Bay Girls Softball teams participated in Santee’s “Bring on the Heat” tournament. While the 12U, 10U and 8U-Blue teams all played some close games but lost in the playoffs, the 8U-Gold team advanced to the semifinals before losing a nail-biter to East County.

The game was tied 0-0 the entire game, until East County squeezed in a single run in the last inning, to hand Coastal Bay the loss. East County went on to win the tournament.

The third place finish was the best finish of the season so far, and the highest finish among all Coastal Bay teams.

Members of the 8U-Gold team that played in Santee are Allyra Ballard, Holly Carlson-Mitchiner, Kyra Ferenczy, Olivia Gross, Rachel Greenfield, Jesse Grigolite, Daisy Hathaway, Marley Meyer, Kayla Nitahara, Leah Parsons, Emily Ponce, Cassidy Wechter and Aurial Yeager. Coaches of 8U-Gold team are Delphine Ferenczy, Amanda Ballard and Alfred Yeager.
