Local jewelry store robbed

A thief pulled a gun on a clerk at a La Jolla jewelry store late Tuesday, then ordered the victim to the floor before making off with a handful of rings.

The robbery at Jewelry Passion on Prospect Street occurred shortly before 5 p.m., according to San Diego police.

The employee described the bandit as an unshaven, roughly 6-foot man in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeved shirt with a brown collar, a blue baseball cap with a Chargers logo on it, sunglasses and a large wristwatch, SDPD Sgt. Bob Dare said.
