LJ Symphony & Chorus gala heats up new season

The La Jolla Symphony & Chorus (LJS&C) kicked off its 55th season with the 2009 gala “Some Like It Hot!” Oct. 10 at the Westgate Hotel.

The evening began with a champagne cocktail reception and silent auction (with many Marilyn Monroe and “Some Like It Hot” movie-themed items) followed by dinner.

The evening included a tribute to guest of honor Eric Bromberger (violinist, pre-concert lecturer and program annotator for LJS&C) with remarks by Music Director Steven Schick and Choral Director David Chase, and in song by Ann Chase.

KUSI weatherman Dave Scott was on hand to rally bidders for a live auction, followed by dancing to the sounds of the 16-piece Big Band Express.
