Soroptimist International of La Jolla installed the new officers for its 2009-2010 board of directors on June 6. The dinner celebration was held at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club.
Barbara Ohlson takes the helm as the new president. Also installed for the 2009-2010 fiscal year were Jackie Young, vice president; Alberta Valentini, treasurer; and Marie Newton, director. JoAnn Segal continues on the board as its immediate past president. The club members recognized Segal at the ceremony for serving two years as its president, since summer 2007.
Founded in 1947, Soroptimist International of La Jolla is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas. Its mission is to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. La Jolla members join with almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories worldwide to contribute time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women.
