Linens ‘n Things closing sale starting
Closing sales will begin today at the remaining 371 Linens ‘n Things stores, including the store on Villa La Jolla Drive, after the bankrupt housewares retailer failed to find a bidder to continue operating the company.
More than $1 billion of name-brand home merchandise in 48 states, will be sold at discounts up to 30 percent, according to the consortium of liquidation companies that received bankruptcy court approval to begin the sales.
The joint venture group is comprised of Hilco Merchant Resources, Gordon Brothers Group, Hudson Capital, SB Capital Group LLC, Great American Group LLC and Tiger/Nassi Group.
Clifton, N.J.-based Linens ‘n Things filed for bankruptcy protection in early May and closed more than 100 of its 500 or so stores in an unsuccessful bid to stay afloat, including about a dozen in the Southland.
Sales will begin today at the following Linens ‘n Things stores in San Diego County:
- La Jolla: 8657 Villa La Jolla Drive, suite 113;
- San Diego: The Courtyard at Carmel Mountain Ranch, 11160 Rancho Carmel Drive, unit 100;
- Encinitas: Encinitas Town Center, 1014 N. El Camino Real; and
- La Mesa: Grossmont Center, 8810 Grossmont Blvd.
