Lecture links cancer care, communication

Lidia Schapira, M.D., an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School who practices medical oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, will talk about communication and its role in quality cancer care on Jan. 29.

The 6:30 p.m. program will be held in the Goldber Auditorium at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center, 3855 Health Sciences Drive.

Schapira will discuss how clear, empathetic communication improves coping, helps the patient and family make informed choices, and builds the connection between the patient, family and healthcare team.
