Las Patronas volunteers all turn out to be belles of the Jewel Ball

The Jewel Ball, one of the premier charity events each year,

returned to the grounds of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. The elegant black-tie gala was a smashing success and a stunning showcase for designer dresses.

This year’s dreamy theme, Wrapped in Moonlight, was echoed in the striking backdrops and wispy purple and white color scheme that decorated the party area. Purple flower petals scattered on the white carpet and sparkling white floral centerpieces on the tables added to the fantasy feeling.

The ladies of Las Patronas created the romantic atmosphere for Jewel Ball 2005, continuing a tradition that dates back 59 years. Special kudos to ball chair Dawn Kearney, her co-chairs Carol Walter and Terry Cooper, and to the large, hard-working committee that contributed to the evening’s grandeur.

Among the many beneficiaries of this year’s bash were the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation, the Monarch School Project, Sharp Rehabilitation Services, and the La Jolla YMCA Performing Arts Center at the Firehouse.

La Jolla guests included Jeanne Jones, Don Breitenberg, Jennifer and Richard Greenfield, Micki Olin, Reid Abrams, Caroline and Nicolas Nierenberg, Teresa and Harry Hixson, Kristi Pieper, Michael Rossbacher, Barbara and Michael Mulligan, Paul and Ruth Jacobowitz, Wendy and Stu Segall, Steve Strauss, Lise Wilson, Dianne and Mitchel Goldman, David and Sarah Burton, Loretto and Paul Garver, Mark and Jamie Zebrowski, Cindy and Bob Salvato, and Vicki and Chris Eddy.
