La Jollans graduate around the country

A number of people with La Jolla connections have recently graduated from colleges and universities across the country.

  • Christiaan Coetzee of La Jolla graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego on May 23. Coetzee earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.

At USD, he made the Dean’s List and was chosen for the Mortar Board Honor Society. He also played Division I tennis.
His parents are Nancy Coetzee of La Jolla and Willem Coetzee of Durban, South Africa.

  • La Jollan Eva Tang graduated from Villanova University in Pennsylvania on May 16 with a bachelor of arts.

Villanova University, a co-educational Roman Catholic institution, was founded by the Order of Saint Augustine in 1842.

  • Andrew Steck of La Jolla graduated from Boston College with a bachelor of arts degree in history and economics.

At commencement, he was awarded the Giffuni Prize, given to a senior who has written an outstanding thesis in economics. He was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of the university’s prestigious Presidential Scholars Program, an integrated honors educational experience.
- La Jolla resident William Steinwedell graduated from Eastern Nazarene College recently, receiving a bachelor of arts degree during the college’s recent spring commencement exercises at the Christian liberal arts college.

Eastern Nazarene College is in Quincy, Mass.
