La Jolla YMCA staff lauded by county branch
Community volunteers and staff of the La Jolla YMCA recently were honored for their service and extraordinary achievements at the YMCA of San Diego County’s annual meeting and awards program on May 13. The La Jolla YMCA has more than 200 programs serving more than 27,000 members and participants from La Jolla, University City, Sorrento Valley, west Mira Mesa, north Clairemont and north Pacific Beach.
Jack Reagan received the county YMCA’s highest honor, the Golden Triangle of Distinguished Service Award, for nearly 20 years of volunteer service to the La Jolla YMCA. Reagan also served in several other leadership roles for the La Jolla YMCA’s Annual Support Campaign over the years.
The La Jolla YMCA volunteers and staff received the President’s Award for the largest increase in donations (6 percent) over the previous year, and the Association Award for outstanding overall achievement among the county’s 18 YMCA branches, which raised a total of more than $6 million.
The La Jolla group raised a record $425,000 in donations from more than 2,100 donors during the monthlong Annual Support Campaign. La Jollan Kevin Mahony served as chairman of the Community Teams Organization, whose more than 200 volunteers raised $212,000 of the total. Dan Martin of University City chaired the President’s Round Table, whose 30 volunteers raised $213,000. The 2010 campaign director was Jennifer Dunn, associate executive director of the La Jolla YMCA, and the campaign co-director was Jason Milosh.
“It was truly a team effort,” said Steve Quinn, La Jolla YMCA’s board chairman. “Not only did our volunteers and staff work exceptionally hard to exceed our campaign goal during these tough economic times, but our 34 board members also gave generous personal contributions which totaled over $100,000.”
