La Jolla teen receives leadership award
Alexander Michael Adler, a senior at Francis Parker School, received the David Wax Teen Leadership Award at the Jewish Community Center’s annual meeting on Oct. 7.
Alexander is the son of Arthur and Denise Adler of La Jolla, and was recognized for his work with the center’s Teen Leadership Council. He joined the council as a freshman and became an advocate for shifting the responsibility of planning events from adults to teens, arguing that the council could come up with interesting, popular events for teens. Alexander currently serves as council president. Alexander led in the planning and implementation of a recurring youth dance event, Club J that he helped expand from 70 attendees to more than 300.
In granting the award, Wax noted that Alexander “helped guide the TLC from infancy into the fully developed program that it is today.”
