La Jolla Shores group seeking to expand its membership
By Joe Dicks
Chairman, La Jolla Shores AssociationHaving recently been elected chair of the La Jolla Shores Association, I wanted to introduce myself to the La Jolla Shores community, thank those who have involved themselves in the process of trying to improve the quality of our lives in this unique seaside neighborhood, and reach out to those whose voices have yet to be heard and whose input we so desperately need if our future is to be as bright as our past has been.
I have served on the board of the La Jolla Shores Association under the last two chairpersons, Sherri Lightner (who is now our District 1 City Council representative) and Jim Heaton, both of whom have dedicated themselves to the greater good of our community. Sherri and Jim have inspired me to do what I can to give back to the La Jolla Shores, and in turn, I would like to inspire you to get involved.
There is much left to do in our beachside community — much to protect, much to preserve and much to improve. And so, this is a call to arms, of sorts. By joining the La Jolla Shores Association, you have an opportunity to be heard and to have your voice benefit the place you call home, work and your playground. The issues that you are invited to weigh in on are varied. From police protection to trash pickup, zoning to traffic control, beach access to parking availability, you can find out what’s going on and help keep the La Jolla Shores safe and beautiful.
The La Jolla Shores Association offers membership to everyone who lives within the bounds of the La Jolla Shores community. A quick visit to our Web site at www.lajollaguide.com/ljsa is all it takes to become a member. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at Scripps Institute, and I think that you will agree that there is always something interesting on the agenda. So, join us, get involved and be part of the solution. I look forward to seeing you soon!
