La Jolla residents are blessed
By EARL VAN INWEGENSummer is upon us in the Jewel of San Diego and California. We are blessed with our great climate.
In the winter, the snowbirds descend to our “moderate” winters for golf, hiking and our abundant attractions. In the summer, the “Desert Folk” come to enjoy our ocean breezes, the beaches, golf (again) and our other year-round attractions; Balboa Park with its museums and theaters, the waterfront attractions downtown with the Midway, bayfront parks, Petco Park, sailing and near-by Torrey Pines Reserve and the Del Mar races.
I could go on, but we all know why we live here and love it. Bird Rock had a very successful “Taste” earlier this month, and of course our Children’s Pool and its current populus has kept us in the news as has the discussion over plans for improving the entries into our Jewel - Torrey Pines Road and the Parkway.
Nevertheless, we all should count our blessings on having the privilege of our year-round residence in the Jewel.
Earl Van Inwegen is the president of the La Jolla Town Council.
