La Jolla Playhouse celebrates ‘The Deception’

The La Jolla Playhouse says “thank you” to its staunchest supporters at pre-opening night parties. Recently, the Playhouse had two new shows to celebrate - and that’s exactly what they did with two separate galas, held just before the curtains.

The partying began with the opening of “The Deception” - an 18th-century romp playing at the Potiker Theater through Aug. 19th. Shirley Fishman, associate artistic director of the Playhouse, introduced Dominique Serrand (who staged the avant-garde piece) as “one of the finest directors in the world.” And the VIPs waiting for the story to unfold were full of anticipation as they enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in the Play Development Center.

The large La Jolla crowd on hand for the occasion included Jeanne Jones and Don Breitenberg, Keitha and Steve Libman (managing director), Joy Wolf, Francy Starr, Phyllis Cohn and Arthur Brody, Sheila and Jeffrey Lipinsky, Farzin Khorsandjama, Rita Bronowski, Ellen Revelle, Natasha Josefowitz, Irwin and Joan Jacobs, Barbara Bloom, Robert Singer, and Judith Harris.
