La Jolla pigs are just ‘swine’

After hearing about the spread of swine flu a local couple took extra precautions to ensure that their decorative pigs were protected. Mary and Jim Flesner live on Nautilus St. and have been collecting pigs since 1985, all given to them by friends and even strangers.

This week they added the masks and the pigs have been entertaining neighbors and people passing by the house. “Not to make light of the situation,” Mary said, “but with anything, we always need a little humor.”
