La Jolla High School’s junior varsity team took the spotlight Friday when the varsity season opener was canceled. They put on a good showing, posting a 21-7 home opening victory against Clairemont High, which had to forfeit the varsity game when they couldn’t field a full team due to disciplinary issues, said Vikings coach Rey Hernandez. The Vikings are set to play Valley Center at home on Friday, while La Jolla Country Day hosts The Bishop’s School.
