La Jolla High School’s girls’ soccer team had hoped to make it two in a row in the CIF San Diego Section Division III championship, but fell short. The Vikings lost their March 6 title game, 2-0, to Coronado.

La Jolla was the defending champion, having beat Coronado by four goals last season for its first championship in nine years.

The Vikings (8-8-4) were seeded third and earned a first-round bye. They beat Clairemont, 3-1, in the quarterfinals on Feb. 26 and reached the final with a 2-0 win over Cathedral Catholic on March 2.

In other girls’ soccer last week, both La Jolla Country Day and The Bishop’s School lost in D-IV semifinal games on March 2.

Country Day fell to Francis Parker, 1-0, and Bishop’s dropped a 2-1 decision to Christian.
