La Jolla Elementary students decorate the town

La Jolla Elementary School art teacher Sonya Devine has been taking her students’ art to the community. Already they shared some in an empty storefront on Girard Avenue at the invitation of commercial real estate broker Jim Rienhart.

Next up is their yearly display at the La Jolla Riford Library, which Devine says will come together with the help of parent volunteers. Works from all grades will be featured, from crayon paper batik, color pencil drawing, cat paintings and still lifes, landscape paintings on burlap, color wheel studies, torn paper collage, paper masks and small clay camel sculptures based on T’ang Dynasty clay figurines.
