La Jolla Christmas parade gets grant

La Jolla Town Council has received a $7,500 grant from Supervisor Pam Slater-Price’s office to be used for this year’s Christmas parade and holiday festival in December.

“The money was appropriated by the Board of Supervisors at its July 21 meeting,” said John Weil, Slater-Price’s chief of staff. “The money is for audio equipment, marketing and entertainment costs.”

Weil said the town council could get the money as soon as mid-August.

Grant funding for the parade came from the county’s community projects fund designated for Supervisorial District 3.

Even though La Jolla is in the city of San Diego, nonprofit groups qualify for county grant funding.

A town council Christmas Parade Committee has been meeting informally since May and a public meeting date, likely sometime in September, has yet to be scheduled.
