La Jolla Boardroom group hosting career workshop

A free workshop to assist jobseekers in finding will be held Nov. 15 at La Jolla Presbyterian Church.Sponsored by The Boardroom San Diego, Jewish Family Service and La Jolla Presbyterian Church, the event will provide information on resume development, interviewing skills and professional image. “Career Vision 2011 — Navigating a Changing Work World,” will feature guest speaker Jamie Beck, M.S., a career coach and career education speaker.
Grace Decker, director and founder of The Boardroom San Diego, said she saw the success of a similar workshop she organized last spring which drew 120 attendees. Decker decided to organize a second workshop, this time featuring Beck.
“I had heard about Jamie’s unique perspective on career transitions and thought that people looking for jobs could be inspired with new, fresh ideas,” said Decker.
The four-and-a-half hour workshop, which begins at 8 a.m., is designed to teach participants how to go from being a reactive to proactive job seeker, according to a press release. It is designed for the unemployed, career changers, people recently laid off, recent graduates, people returning to work and people who are looking for their first job.
The workshop will be held in Fellowship Hall at La Jolla Presbyterian Church, 7715 Draper Ave. Parking is free at the entrance off of Kline.
