La Jolla baseball team wins sectional title

La Jolla Youth Baseball 9s All-Stars are the 2010 Pony Sectional Champions and will play in the regionals on July 4 in San Marcos. They advanced, along with Tecolote, who they defeated on June 24, 14-3, at the North City field.

Manager Mike Campagna said the boys had an incredible game, with . “everybody hitting the ball super hard to put us up 8-0 in the first inning.”

He added that “the defense was really on their game that day. Although there were a lot of balls hit, the defense seemed to step up and make all the plays necessary when needed.

Their counterparts, the 11-year-old La Jolla Broncos also played last week at North City, losing 8-6 on June 23, to the home team.
