La Jolla attic fire causes $50,000 in damage; no injuries


A fire in the attic of a detached garage at a La Jolla residence on Monday caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, but no one was hurt, a dispatcher said.

The blaze broke out around 3:25 a.m. at 5610 Bellevue Place and took about 40 minutes to extinguish, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher.

The cause of the fire near Bird Rock Park was listed as “unintentional,” but no specifics were provided.
