Knights defeated by Lancers in Division V title game

Francis Parker defeated Bishop’s 51-22 during the San Diego Section Division V final at Southwestern College on Saturday night.

The Lancers (12-1), up 30-22 at halftime, accounted for all 21 points in the second half to push back the Knights (7-7) in their quest for a repeat title. Bishop’s freshman quarterback Joey Moreno was 13-of-22 for 130 yards.

A year ago, the football team from The Bishop’s School was unstoppable.

Things have been drastically different for the Knights this season, but they overcame long odds to make a return appearance in the championship game.

Last year, the Knights sailed through the regular season undefeated, and as the No. 2 seed in the CIF San Diego Section Division V playoffs, steamrolled their first two opponents in the playoffs and toppled Christian, 17-7, at Qualcomm Stadium to win the section title.
