Kathy Day, a veteran journalist, has joined the La Jolla Light as editor.
She’ll be overseeing the news staff and working to strengthen the community’s news and feature reports.
“We are delighted to welcome Kathy to our newspapers,” said Phyllis Pfeiffer, La Jolla Light publisher. “Her writing and editing experience as well as her understanding of the inner-workings of our communities will enhance our news coverage.”
Day replaces Cyril Jones-Kellett, who left to pursue his career as a writer. She brings more than 20 years of news experience as well as background in public relations to her new post. Most recently she was an assistant managing editor at the North County Times, where here responsibilities over the past six years included working with the business, sports, coastal news, feature and photo staffs as well handling newsroom operations.
She has also worked as a reporter at the San Diego Daily Transcript, covering biotechnology and high-technology, and was city editor at the Daily Herald in Everett, Wash.
A graduate of Cal State Long Beach, she resides in Scripps Ranch with her husband, Bob, and daughter, Audrey.
