Juvenile taken into custody

A juvenile was apprehended Wednesday morning after police in squad cars and a helicopter responded to a report a car prowl in the WindanSea area of La Jolla.

Monica Munoz, public information officer for the San Diego Police Department, said

police received a call at 10:56 a.m. from a witness in the 200 block of Playa Del Sur who saw someone “walking down the street trying the door handles on cars trying to find a car to steal something out of.”

Munoz said a female and male officer, whose jurisdiction includes school campuses and who were patrolling in the La Jolla area at the time, responded to the call and encountered two juveniles on Playa Del Sur.

“One juvenile was taken to juvenile hall,” said Munoz.
